Dr. Merlino grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and has deep roots within the city. He attended St. Francis Elementary School and St. Mary's College. After graduating from St. Mary's college in 2002, Dr. Merlino attended The University of Western Ontario where he studied Kinesiology. He graduated with his BA Honors Kinesiology in 2006 and that same year was accepted to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. He graduated with Clinical Honors in 2010.
Since graduating from Chiropractic College, Dr. Merlino has been diagnosing and treating patients with an EVIDENCE-BASED approach to manual therapy. Using the latest research done by the top manual therapy and orthopedic scientists in the world, Dr. Merlino ensures you are getting treatment is appropriate and treatment that works. He is also believer in a multi-discipline approach to your health, meaning he will refer you to the appropriate health care professional when required. It is this modern and cutting edge approach that makes Canada a world leader in health care.
Dr. Merlino is an avid road cyclist and enjoys staying fit. He has played hockey, basketball and tennis most of his life and also enjoys running, soccer and football. He has extensive knowledge in injuries related to most sports. Dr. Merlino is also passionate about exercise training having treated a number of people who have injured themselves while working out. He is fully qualified to assess your level of fitness and teach you proper form to prevent injury at the gym. He also is a music enthusiast and plays guitar and bass guitar.
Additional training Dr. Merlino attained is an extensive knowledge in Concussion diagnosis and treatment, Kinesiology Taping, Mulligan Movement Mobilizations, Anatomy Trains and Rehabilitation. Other extended training includes having Cervical-Thoracic and Lumbar-Sacrum Motion Palpation Institute certifications.
