What is evidence-based chiropractic?
There is a growing body of evidence in support of the chiropractic management of patients with musculoskeletal problems; most notably for the spine, primarily through the utilization of manipulation and exercise.
Chiropractors, like other health care providers, are aware of other elements that affect care such as natural history, placebo, and coincidence and are taught to consider these before associating their treatment approach directly to a result. However, notwithstanding, empirical observation coupled with the current scientific literature indicates that the effectiveness of chiropractic care extends beyond these other elements.
What should I expect on the first visit?
Please arrive 10 minutes early for your first visit. Before seeing the doctor, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire. This is vital to help us build an accurate clinical profile. The doctor begins by reviewing the questionnaire and discussing your health history. This is followed by a comprehensive physical assessment. Your doctor will then explain the nature of your condition and what type of treatment is necessary for you. Treatment is usually given immediately following your assessment. Depending on the complexity and level of pain you are in, rehabilitative exercise may or may not be given on the first visit.
Is There Parking?
There is ample parking at The TECH. It is currently located at 130 Wellington Street East and the parking is free at all times.
Will my insurance coverage pay for chiropractic treatments?
Most extended health plans cover chiropractic care. Please contact your insurance company to determine the extent of your coverage. Green Shield allows our office to directly bill online making it quite convenient for the patient.
Do I require an MD referral?
Chiropractic care does not require a referral from your MD or any other medical specialist. The Province of Ontario grants Chiropractors the status of Primary Care Doctors who have the ability to diagnose and treat specific conditions without referral.
How much will one session cost? How can I pay?
Clinical fees can be found by calling the office at 705-575-3365. Please note that payment is preferred following each treatment. Your balance may be paid by cash, Interac, personal cheque, or by Visa/Mastercard.
How often will I need to be treated?
Your frequency of care will depend entirely on your diagnosis. Typically, 2-3 visits is required for most conditions. Stubborn or complicated cases may need additional treatments.
I am pregnant, can I still be treated?
Chiropractic care is a very safe and effective way to treat many of the aches and pains associated with all stages of pregnancy. Many women find chiropractic care helpful in coping with pregnancy-related pain and discomfort.
How do I prevent re-injury or re-occurrence of my pain?
Once your immediate pain is reduced and eliminated the Doctor will design a therapeutic exercise program that will strengthen the proper muscles to help prevent this from happening again. Depending on your diagnosis, stretching may also be prescribed.
